"On 10th Dec. 1940 Cpl. Richardson was a sub-section commander in the Carrier Platoon. In the attack on an enemy position near Sidi Barrani he led his carrier with great courage in the face of heavy fire. He went straight for an enemy MG post and destroyed it totally with grenades. Throughout the battle he behaved with the greatest determination."
