Recommendation:
"Technician Fifth Grade George O. Hurst, 37497862, Medical Detachment, 217th Field Artillery Battalion. For gallantry in action in eastern France. At about 1900, 3 December 1944, Technician Fifth Grade Hurst briefly administered aid to several wounded men while under continuous enemy fire. Two hours later an enemy shell wounded several more men including Technician Fifth Grade Hurst, even though he received multiple shrapnel wounds in his left thigh, leg and lower left jaw, Technician Fifth Grade Hurst moved among the wounded and rendered all the aid possible. He then succeeded in getting them all aboard vehicles while he rode on the running board until the battery commander placed him the cab of the vehicle. Upon arrival at the aid station. Technician Fifth Grade Hurst insisted that all the other wounded personnel be cared for before submitting to medical attention himself. Technician Fifth Grade Hurst’s noble actions exemplify the highest standards of gallantry and devotion to duty."
