Richard Barmé was born in Küllenhahn on 3rd October 1924 with the German nationality. At the age of 14 he left for the Netherlands, where his parents already lived. Later the German Government would take away his nationality. Later he received the Dutch Nationality.

At the age of 17 he fled in July 1942 to Great Britain. After a journey through Belgium and France he reached Switserland to be interred. Here he received permission to finish his ducation at the Beatrix Lyceum in Glyon. After he received his diplome in June 1943 he once again was interred. He managed to escape the internment camp in October 1943 and left through France and Spain for Gibraltar to reach Great Britain from there. He managed to reach England on 16th March 1944 and contacted the Bureau Bijzondere Opdrachten. Afterer a basic training he was dropped as a liaison into occupied Holland on 1st November 1944, near Benthuizen, Zuid Holland. He operated under the codenames Maxwell and Rita. The mission he was part of had the codename Trapping and the codename in the field was EDU. His field name was Richard Bos.
Richard Barmé was arrested by the Germans on 2nd February 1945 after his transmitter was discovered in Rotterdam-Hilligersberg. He was imprisoned in the Oranjehotel in Scheveningen. He was executed at the Waalsdorpervlakte near the Hague, the Netherlands on 8th March 1945 as a repraisal for the attempt by Dutch Resistance to kill SS-Officer Hanns Albin Rauter. Thus Blamé was one of the 263 people that were executed as repraisal of which 38 were shot at the Waalsdorpervlakte.

"2nd Lieutenant Barmé was trained as a W/T Operator, and parachuted into enemy-occupied Holland on the 1st November 1944 to assist in maintaining W/T communications between U.K. and organized resistance at Rotterdam. He was a member of the U.K. trained liaison mission, and for several months he did most valuable work under the extremely dangerous and difficult conditions prevailing in his operational area."
