"From July 1943 to June 1944 he was responsible for the detailed preparation of the special order of 1 Corps, the recommendations for special scales and types of vehicles equipment and stores, and their distribution to formations. This was a major task. When planning started in January he was responsible for the preparation of all the landing tables and staff tables etc of the Corps which had four divisions under command with various Corps and Army Troops amounting to over 140,000 men.
Throughout all this time his judgement remained sound and by his determination and common sense he surmounted all difficulties smoothly and with great efficiency. That everything occurred as planned (and there were NO mistakes) is very largely due to his untiring efforts."
