Biography

Frans Willem Slotboom was a student and member of the resistance. He took part in the attack on Germans at the Oldenallerbrug (Oldenallerbridge) between Putten and Nijkerk in the night of September 30th to October 1st, 1944. This attack was the direct cause of the German arrests at Putten on October 1st, and October 2nd, 1944 during which many men of Putten were transported to concentrationcamps like Neuengamme. Slotboom was wounded during the attack and taken away by his fellow resistance fighters to the Hunnenweg (Hunnenroad) in Voorthuizen. They also took with them a wounded German soldier. Here Slotboom died and the German soldier was taken to Stroe and left near a German Army post. Slotboom was buried in the garden of the adres and later reburied at the cemetery in Putten.
