On 3 May 1943, he was sentenced to death by the Police Standings Court in Rotterdam for ‘far-reaching participation in the strike at the Merwede Shipyard in Hardinxveld near Dordrecht’.
He was executed along with 9 others immediately afterwards and buried at an unknown place.
His name is included in the Erelijst van Gevallenen and is also mentioned on a memorial board at the old office of the shipyard.
