Recommendation:
She has distinguished herself as charwoman and bartender of the Etappe-intendance in Rotterdam in connection with enemy action by courageous and tactful conduct and in so doing having served the interests of the Kingdom, having joined shortly after the capitulation in May 1940, a small resistance group which tasked itself with gathering military information and relaying this to England as well undertaking acts of sabotage. Further for having taken much information, received by her in Rotterdam, to the leader of this group in various places in the Netherlands, for having informed this officer on the situation in Rotterdam, for having taken messages to the wireless transmitter of this group and for handing over to the leader of the group the three pistols which she had taken from a desk of the enemy, although already knowing that the enemy had offered a sizeable amount of money as a reward for information on this person’s whereabouts. Furthermore, after having been arrested at the end of 1942 as a result of treason, having kept her silence despite torture as well as serious threats of reprisal against her four children, of whom three were interned for six weeks and having steadfastly denied all actions known to her of the group. Furthermore, for having displayed a high level of morale in various prisons in the Netherlands until she was finally imprisoned at the beginning of March 1945 in the “Nacht und Nebellager” (Night and Fog camp) at Mauthausen from which camp she was transfered to Switzerland in april 1945 in the care of the Red Cross.
