"1st Sgt Colburn, Transportation Corps, United States Army through outstanding performance of duty and through exceptional devotion to the requirements of his assignment during the period 16 August 1944 to 30 April 1945 has substantially contributed to the high grade of efficiency being maintained in his company administratively and technically. His organizational ability enabled the set-up of the unit upon each move within the minimum time and during the German break through he understood to keep the morale of his company high while unit's billets as well as railway shops became daily targets of bombing and strafing. First Sergeant Colburn's leadership and abilities deserve highest credit and recognition and are an asset to the Transportation Corps, Military Service and 755th Railway Shop Battalion."
