Monument Sgt. F.A. McCluskey

There is a memorial to Sergeant McCluskey at this location. He died on 6 October 1942 at this place.

Sergeant McCluskey was 1 of the 7 crew members of a Halifax II bomber (serial W7763) that was set on fire by a Messerschmidt on 6 October on its way back from a bombing flight in Germany. The plane crashed near the Elsterberg. McCluskey's parachute did not fully open. McCluskey landed in a tree and died.
