Major D.J. Mitchell, MC. KRRC reported for duty as SO2 (Adm).

SCOA, SO2A (Major D.J. Mitchell) and Lt Col. Goodman (CREME Corps Tps) visited farms to obtain German tpt horses for recovery work. Seven horses found in ST LEGER – ST GABRIEL area.

8 August 1944 WO 171/304 - 8 Corps CA
SO2 A (Maj D.J. Mitchell) arranged for Corps Tps RE to blow holes for burying of cattle in LA TARRENTAINE area. Tps to do actual burying. All divs (3, 15, Gds & 11 Armd) visited by SO2s to discover whether system of liaison with dets was working satisfactorily. All happy except for 15 (S) div who wanted a permanent LO which is not possible with present allotment of spearhead dets (3 per Corps) and present establishment of dets.

SCAO and SO 2A (Major DJ Mitchell) visited 224 and 218 Dets.

SO2 E (Major Peltzer) and SO2 A (Major Mitchell) visited 11 Armd Div Main ref evac of village LEUNEN. Found that Div had already contacted 218 Det (DEURNE) and made arrangements. Tpt being provided by 11 Armd Div and evac to CRTA to start at 0600 hrs 23 Oct.

13 November 1944 WO 171/304 - 8 Corps CA
SO 2 (A) (Major Mitchell) and Major Stok visited Saw Mill at DE RIPS to discuss with the Dutch State Forester the military requirements of timber. It was pointed out that it was impossible to limit military requirements within hard and fast lines but it was explained to him that no more cutting than was necessary would be done and that the timber that would form shelter for ultimate replanting would be left standing as desired.

SCAO, SO1 (E) and SO2 (A) (Major Mitchell) visited 513 (A) Det and Major Salter NCAO WEERT and discussed with latter availability of Dutch Pioneers for mine lifting.
