While 8 Platoon were re-forming after crossing the river, both numbers on the light machine gun of Private BRAUNER’s section were wounded by enemy fire. He immediately task over the gun himself and by moving to an exposed position he was able to engage one enemy machine gun post to such purpose that it was silenced. His action drew fire from another enemy machine gun post but he nevertheless remained in his position giving covering fire to his platoon with such effect that they were able to make their first bound without further casualties.
