"Sgt. Cecil James BROWN showed outstanding leadership and gallantry in a company attack out onto the low ground WEST of NIJMEGEN, HOLLAND on 9 February 1945. In a company attack on the village of KEEKEN, he personally led his platoon in an assault on a group of farm buildings across an Anti-tank ditch, and into the outer defences of the SIEGFRIED LINE. All throughout the fighting, Sergeant BROWN showed outstanding leadership and disregard for personal safety, and it was largely due to the success of Sergeant BROWN’s platoon that the company was able to secure its objective."
