"Regimental Sergeant Major Clark was Regimental Sergeant Major of the Lake Superior Regiment (Motor) during the entire Netherlands campaign. In this capacity, he was responsible for transporting supplies from the supply echelon to the fighting (...) On the different occasions the unit outran supply facilities and it was found necessary to “fight” the ammunition in to the companies. Regimental Sergeant Major Clark organized his Battle echelon into combat groups and without exception got them trough successfully. On the occasion of the capture of FORT CREVECOUR 8 December 1944, on the SOUTH bank of the MAAS, it was necessary to establish three supply columns immediately the Fort fell. The operation was successful and the garrison had supplies within 5 hours. Regimental Sergeant Major Clark organised the equipment necessary and personally guided the first storm boat trip through a hail of mortar and medium machine gun fire to the Fort itself. This example of cool courage and tenacity in the execution of his office earned for him the highest respect of all those under his command. At no time in the history of the Netherlands campaign was the Lake Superior Regiment (Motor) without adequate supplies, due solely to the untiring efforts of Regimental Sergeant Major Clark."
