“Major Bernhard Woldenga was born in Hamburg on the 04.12.1901. As Kommodore of a Jagdgeschwader he has never failed to inspire his men through his example during interdiction and bombing attacks, with the result that great achievements have been brought about. Under his command the Geschwader has achieved 50 aerial victories, destroyed 114 aircraft on the ground, sunk 5 enemy MTBs and 81000 GRT of shipping and damaged a further combined 200000 GRT of both merchant shipping and heavy/medium warships of the English Mediterranean fleet.”
