"As 1st Pilot-Commander of a Dutch Naval Hudson plane from 320 Squadron, during e night attack on December 22nd 1942 on an enemy convoy near the Dutch coast, having shown courage, persistence and judge of caracter by:
1- After enemy fire put the starboard engine into flames, he kept attacking the raid on one of the enemy ships, setting it on fire and probably sinking it.
2- Fighting of an enemy attack from a fighter plane and bringing his damaged plane back to the base."
