"For gallantry in action against the enemy in Germany on 14 April 1945. When his platoon was caught in a deadly rain of enemy Machine gun fire during the attack of our forces upon ****, Germany, Technical Sergeant Harris suffered multiple head wounds. Despite intense pain, he rallied his men and continued to direct their operations effectively until he died. Technical Sergeant Harris outstanding leadership,magnificent courage and heroic devotion to duty are in keeping with the highest traditions in the Army of the United States."
