Harry H. Weiler was born in Germany. His father was awarded an Iron Cross (2nd Class?) in the First World War. The family was Jewish,and were fortunate enough to emigrate to the United States in 1936. He changed his name to Harry and quickly assimilated into his new life. He returned to Europe, as a translator with the C.I.C., in the 406th Infantry Regiment.

Citation:
"For gallantry in action against the enemy in Germany on 31 October 1944. Private mfirst class Weiler was a member of a daylight patrol, whose mission was to capture prisoners for identification of enemy units in their sector. Private First Class weiler expose himself to heavy enemy fire to call to enemy and cause them to surrender. Later the patrol ran into another group of five Germans and again he exposed himself to the enemy and caused them to surrender. Private First Class Weiler's work was an important factor in the success of the patrol. Altogether, seven prisoners wer taken."
