Biography

Edward McCreadie was the captain of the "s.s. Empire Celt". This ship from the Sir James German & co. Ltd. sailed in convoy ON-67, when the ship was sunk on February 24th, 1942 by the "U 158" under the command of Kapitänleutnant Erwin Rostin. Captain Edward McCreadie was, together with 22 other survivors, picked up by the Canadian Citadelle. Twenty four others were picked up by the "H.M.S. St. Zeno".
After this, Edward McCreadie stayed for several months in a hospital on Newfoundland.

Besides Edward, also his three brothers James McCreadie, Peter McCreadie and William McCreadie served with the Merchant Navy and all reached the function of full Captain.
