Recommendation:
For initiative, skill and bravery in action, on the night of the 18/19 July 1943 at point 868, Gratta Calda, Sicily. The unit was caught in a trap with enemy positions on flanks and immediate front.
Lieutenant Potvin on his own initiative moved quickly and dislodged a platoon position on the right flank. Following that he spotted an enemy MG enfilading the road on which tpt and personnel were. He stalked the MG post with three of four men and destroyed is at point blank range.
