"For exceptional services rendered in the accomplishment of his duties in the radio service of this command during the period from November 21, 1944 to March 13, 1945. He was given the mission January 29, 1945 to install and maintain the functions of a radio station at the post of command of the 2nd Combat Team (French Army) at Auron (France). He completed his mission and maintained in a manner worthy of praise under enemy fire, radio communication between French headquarters at Auron and this Headquarters. He was relieved of his mission March 6, 1945 and resumed his regular duties at the control station of the network of this Headquarters. The devotion to duty of Sergeant Bacon contributed greatly to the maintenance of close liaison between this Headquarters of the French forces which were attach to it."
