Blake Foard followed his education with the Graveraet High School in Marquette, Michigan and the Northern Michigan College of Education. He majored in agriculture. After following courses in meteorology and navigation, he received a flying course form civil flying instructor Sig Wilson. After this, Blake L. Ford joined the Upper Peninsula Wildcat Squadron. He married to Mildred Mahan.
