"When all the company officers had been wounded in a fierce engagement with the enemy, Sergeant Gloar reorganized his platoon and assisted in the reorganization of the entire company, thereby enabling it to continue to fight.
When the company later began to move its position, Sgt. Gloar moved into the open and killed three enemy gunners who were attempting to set up their machine gun to bring fire upon the company. Through Sgt. Gloars skillful handling of his men and through his untiring devotion to duty his company was successful in accomplishing its mission. His repeated exemples of personal courage were an inspiration to all."
