"For meritorious achivement in connection with military operations against the enemy in MINDANAO, PHILIPPINE ISLANDS, during period 13 June to 17 June 1945. Private First Class Becker distingushed himself, while on a forward observation party, by aiding in maintaining communcations under difficult and hazzardous conditions. On numerous occasions he left the protection of his foxhole,under enemy mortar and artillery fire, to aid in moving radio and telephones forward, thus enabling communicationsto be maintained at all times. Private First Class Becker had volunteered for this mission. His disregard for personal safty earned him high praise from the infantrymenwith whom he worked andhis attentionto duty aided in delivering effective artillery fire when needed, thus contributing to the success of the operation."
