Awarded for the achievements of his Abteilung during the fighting along the Sollum front in the time period 15.-17.06.1941. Near the Capuzzo airfield he found an 8.8 cm gun that had been abandoned when its prime mover broke down, made it operational, and with this was able to halt an Allied thrust against Bardia. Later, during the counterthrust of the 15. Panzer-Division over the following two days against Capuzzo, Hill 208 and the Halfaya Pass, Hauptmann Fromm would direct the operations of his 1. and 3. Batterien. In this time his guns destroyed a total of 92 Allied tanks.
