Thurn J. Wilson, Technician Fifth Grade, Company C, 760th Tank Battalion, for gallantry in action. On the morning of 30 January, 1944, a German shell penetrated the tank he was driving, killing the assistant driver, wounding the gun loader, and setting the tank on fire. A few moments later the gunner was wounded by enemy machine gun fire. In the midst of this intense action, Technician Fifth Grade Wilson helped evacutate both injured men to a first aid station. His courageous act was an inspiration to all who were witnesses, and is in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service. Home address: Iron Station, North Carolina.
