    Biography

    Danilo Marques Moura was a member of the 1st Brazilian Fighter Squadron (1º GAVCA), which became part of the 350º Fighter Group USAAF. He had flown 10 missions before having his P-47 Thunderbolt shot down in Castelfranco-Italy, during his 11st mission. Danilo reached the Allied Force Base at Pisa after walking more than 340km during almost 30 days.

    "For meritorious achievement while participating in aerial flight as pilot of a P-47 type aircraft on 20 January 1945. Lieutenant Danilo flew in a fighter bomber formation whose target was an important enemy fuel dump heavily defended by intense and accurate anti-aircraft fire. Despite the intensity of the defensive fire, Lieutenant Danilo released his bombs from a minimum altitude which contributed to the destruction fo four buildings and large quantities of fuel. After completing their primary mission, Lieutenant Danilo and the rest of the formation strafed convoys in the area causing the destruction of fourteen motor vehicles and four electric busses. His aerial proficiency and devotion to duty has reflected great credit upon himself and the Armed Forces of the Allied Nations."
