"For gallantry in action on 22 February 1945, in Germany. When his battery received heavy fire from enemy artillery, it becamenecessary to make calculations and compass readings so that accurate fire could be placed on the enemy positions. In spite of the extreme hazards and danger from the shells still falling, Sergeant Boswell remained in an exposed position making observations and compass readings. Although he was seriously wounded, he courageously refused to be evacuated until his report was turned in.Sergeant Boswell's heroic actions reflect great credit on himself and the Armed Forces."
