Lieutenant Ruben Ibarruri was a Spanish war volunteer in the Red Army and veteran of the Spanish Civil War. He was wounded in the Battle of Stalingrad and died in a field hospital. Ibarruri was posthumously promoted to captain and received the Hero of the Soviet Union title in 1956.
