Biography

Lived in Fife, Scotland in the 50's & 60's. Death cert lists occupation as Lieutenant, 10th Polish Mountain Infantry Regiment (retired) of 17 Vincent Gardens, Hyson Green, Nottingham. Death by Cor-Pulmonale and Chronic Renal Failure. Body unclaimed, cremated remains buried 30/2/1995 in an unmarked grave in the PAFA section of Newark on Trent Cemetery.

"LT MARCINKIEWICZ on 8 September in an action at THIELT, Belgium, led his platoon and attacked by the rear of the enemy, who were holding up the advance of our tanks with anti-tank guns.

During the stiff fighting which then followed, Lt. MARCINKIEWICZ's right hand was blown off but in spite of his wound this officer continued to led his men, refusing medical treatment, untill due to loss of blood he had to be transported to the rear."
