    "ERIC H. C. FRITH, 1258, T/Brigadier, Somerset Light Infantry, 26. British Liaison Unit, for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services in the Mediterranean Theater of Operations from 1 December 1943 to 12 January 1946. As Commanding Officer of the 26 British Liaison Unit attached to the II POlish Corps, Brigadier Frith capably coordinated the staff procedure of Polish Headquarters with those of the British Eighth Army, the Allied Armies in Italy and the Allied Force Headquarters. His efficient liaison activities gave him a vital role in the great victories achieved by the Polish forces under the Allied Command and reflected the highest credit upon himself and on the cause he so attly served."

    "Since 28 December 1943 Brigadier FRITH has been head of the large British Liaison Unit attached to 2nd Polish Corps. His work has been outstandingly successful during a year of battle for this Corps. His appointment has been one of great responsibility and he has displayed outstanding qualities of sympathy, tact and comradeship. He has never spared himself and has always maintained the closest touch with the whole tactical situation by means of visits to forward units during battle.

    Untiring, cheerful and shrewd, his advice has always been sound, and he has displayed exceptional qualities of enthusiasm and a determination to surmount all difficulties. His efforts have assured that the operations of 2nd Polish Corps have been carried out as successfully and smoothly as if the Corps has been a British one, which is a great tribute to Brigadier FRITH.

    His exceptional devotion to duty is fully worthy of special recognition."
