CITATION
Dropped by parachute into SOUTH JOHORE, MALAYA on 20th July, 1945 as second in command and W/T officer of a party collecting intelligence. He proceeded, to organise with great vigour W/T communications with outposts all over JOHORE Including the approaches to SINGAPORE and by the time of the JAPANESE surrender hé had a complete network operating and passing a large volume of high grade intelligence through his cental, station.
At the end of July a JAPANESE patrol began, to molest the party and continued to do so until they were called off by their Commander after the surrender. Their supplies including food, were destroyed and there was sporadic fighting for about three weeks, but W/T contact was never lost and the flow of intelligence was maintained throughout both in quality and quantity until the country was occupied by BRITISH troops. He was often working on his own but was assistant to Major Hart who received the D.S.O."
