Master Sergeant RALP E Tyler, 39161039, Infantry, United States Army. For meritorious service in connection with military operations against the enemy from 11 May to 2 June 1943. During the Attu Operation, Master Sergeant Tyler acted in the capacity of regimental Operations Sergeant. By his example of cheerfulness, cinfidence, energy and industry, he was a constant source of inspiration to his fellow soldiers. His determination, intelligence, and perseverance enabled him to develop innovations which expedited the collection and dissemination of vital information. Notwithstanding the complexities and arduous nature of the battel, Master Sergeant Tyler accurately maintained a complete and precise record of events.
His outstanding work was an important factor in the successful conclusion of a difficult operation
