Biography

June 1942: Inducted as a member of the gun crew on the USS Hugh L. Scott November 1942: Attacked and sunk by a German submarine off Morocco, near Casablanca. Hospitalized on the USS Joseph T. Dickman, which headed to Casablanca.
Afterwards: Assigned to sea duty on the USS Philadelphia and the USS Samuel Chase, then to land duty at an ammunition depot in Tunisia.

6 October 1945: Discharged from the Navy
