1941: heavy fightings around the Wotanstellung eastwards of the Dnjepr as Chef - 7./ Gebirgsjägerregiment 144 - 3. Gebirgsdivision
10.1943: region Heidelberg - Gendelberg
End 1943: in Romania the 3rd mountain division fought on the Tisza. Suddenly, one morning there were 200 Red Army soldiers behind the front of the 144. Gebirgsjäger Rgt.Hauptmann Hechenberger started with the last reserve, the Radfahrzug, to counterattack, threw the Russians back across the river and restored the old main line of battle until evening.
