The following wartime excerpt describes why Triebe received the Knight’s Cross…

“Hauptmann Triebe was assigned to the Vorausabteilung of a Panzer-Division during the campaign in the East. In this capacity his Batterie delivered battle-deciding assistance on multiple occasions. Under his bold leadership the Batterie destroyed 24 enemy tanks, an armoured train, 12 batteries and 12 aircraft.”
