Throughout these three days Lutz distinguished himself as the leader of the unit and by his own personal successes. By the village of M. he destroying 7 heavy Pak within the space of just 15 minutes. The fighting here also brought his cumulative total of enemy tanks destroyed to 47. He would for all this be awarded the Knight’s Cross.
