Biography

Eduard Lucassen was the captain of the ferry boat between Doornenburg and Pannerden. Early in the morning of May 10th, 1940 he ferried Dutch military to Pannerden. Shortly after this he was mortally wounded by German handgun fire. Beceause of the fighting that took place after that, his remains could not be reached until Fortress Pannerden surrendered on May 12th, 1940.
