"For meritorious service in connection with military operations against the enemy during the period from 20 January 1945 until 17 April 1945 in Germany. During this period, Captain Horn led his company in the fighting to breach the Siegfried Line, in crossing of the Ruhr River, the advance to the Rhine River, the fighting to extend the Remagen bridgehead and the rapid and extended operations to elmiminate the Ruhr pocket. By his excellent judgement and tactical employment of his heavy machine guns and 81 mm mortars, he was able to reduce enemy resistance to a minimum and provide unfailing support for advancing rifle companies. His tactical skill and capable leadership are in accordance with the highest military traditions."
