"Pfc. Hudson as a gunner displayed exceptional courage, initiative and professional skill while operating against the enemy in Korea on July 24-25 1954. During an attack on a critical sector of the main line of resistance by a numerically superior enemy force the bunker where his machine gun was set up was destroyed by hostile artillery and mortar preparatory fires. Unhesitatingly, he joined a heavy machine gun crew and continued to deliver deadly accurate fire upon the onrushing enemy. Later, in the same action, he acted as [a] rifleman and with complete disregard for his own safety moved into areas where fighting was fierce and participated with valor and skill in restoring and mopping up operations."
