"ALFRED FORREST, 252764, Major. Intelligence Corps, British Army, Allied Force Headquarters, for meritorious achievement in connection with military operations in Italy from 15 September 1943 to 2 May 1945. As Commandant of the Photo Intelligence School, San Severo, Italy, despite the lack of equipment and accomodations, Major Forrest, by his energy and tact overcame these critical difficulties and working in conjunction with another officer, framed the course and commenced instruction. Major Forrest was personally responsible for the very high standard of photographic intelligence in the Theater and the success of the school was largely attributable to the excellence of the courses which he personally designed, and to his great enthusiasm for photographic intelligence which he succeeded in imparting to so many of his students. Major Forrest's initiative and knowledge contributed immeasurably in the Allied war effort nd his effort did much to assist the United States Army in developing photo interpreters, a field in which it had hitherto been totally deficient. Entered service from Americus, Georgia."
