"Major Barham's appointment to the War Office in February 1944 was followed by an unprecedented flow of telephone and telegraph circuits requirements in connection with operation "OVERLORD".
Major Barham applied himself to the American requirements with such vigour that none were outstanding by "B" Day. His responsibilities have been almost wholly concerned with the U.S. Forces line requirements and in his contacts with his American colleagues, his unfailing courtesy and good humour have done much to promote that mutual understanding and respect critical in a combined operation.
