n recognition of services rendered to Netherlands prisoners of war in Thailand during the Second World War.

"Though, as a British subject, himself interned in a camp for civil internees in Bangkok, he took the initiative in organizing aid to the prisoner of war camps. He regularly collected money among his fellow internees for buying medicines and food for the P.O.W. and with the help of people outside the camp, at great risk to himself, gradually built up an efficient aid organization to which hundreds of former P.O.W. owe their lives."

Royal Decree no. 46, dd. 2-8-1950. Presented on 20-10-1950 at the Royal Netherlands Legation in Bangkok.
