The award has the shape of the 1939 variant, but the laurel leave wreath is much finer detailed. The knot at the base and the 3 berries at the top are also much finer detailed. The helmet and the swords are placed somewhat higher, so that there became more free space underneath the helmet. In this free space are the date (20 July 1944) and Hitler’s signature placed. The between laying fields are finely pebbled and matt finished, while the date and the signature are polished with the result that they look even better. At the reverse is a pin with hook construction mounted, with just under the pin the mark of the producer and the mark .800. The golden version has a gilded wreath, helmet with swords and the swastika is somewhat lighter of colour. The date and signature are polished and the reverse is also gilded but matt of colour. The golden version was awarded for 5 or more wounds.
