"Thomas Richmond was based in Malta during the war with the RAF. He worked on the aircraft as a fitter as far as is known. He didn't like to talk much about what went on for obvious reasons and he never claimed his military medals. He was a lovely man and he loved Malta but only came back once for a holiday. As part of clearing his private possessions a collection of photographs from Malta came up, some of which are quite shocking, taken during air-raids, aircraft being shot down etc. There is no knowledge as to where the pictures were taken in Malta as nothing is written on the back except one with the man on the motorbike which was in 1942."
