Großherzoglich Hessischer Ludwigsorden

The "Großherzoglich Hessischer Ludwigsorden" was instituted on August 25th, 1807 by Grand Duke Ludwig I of Hesse-Darmstadt as an Order of Merit without name or rulings. Grand Duke Ludwig II instituted the first rulings on December 14th, 1831 and named it the "Ludewigs-Orden".
