Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice

The "Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice" can be bestowed by the Pope for proven services to the Roman Catholic church or the Roman Catholic believes. The decoration was instituted on July 17th, 1888 bij Pope Leo XIII and cold be awarded in gold, silver or bronze. In 1908 Pope Pius X decided the decoration was only to be awarded in gold.
