Ronald Megaw Memorial Prize

The Ronald Megaw Memorial Prize was founded in 1906 in memory of Midshipman Ronald Megaw, who was killed accidentally on 11 November, 1904 while at General Quarters on board H.M.S. Montagu. Given by Megaw's father and kept in trust by the Admiralty, the reward was covered by interest on a sum of £1,000.

After 1914–15, no rewards were given out for a while. In 1920, it was agreed that further awards should be given out in order to pay off the funding's accrued interest.

Criteria: The Sub-Lieutenant who placed highest in the previous year's various examinations for officers eligible for the rank of Lieutenant.

Description: A Presentation Sword and its accoutrements as well as specific books or instruments.
