Burgenland (1921-present, Bundesland)

Burgenland was military and politically forces to become a controlled area between Austria and Hungary. In October 1921, the Austrian Bundesheer entered the area after it was given to Austria by International Treaty. Hungary formally transferred it to Austria on December 5th, 1921. As form 1921 Burgenland is a formal state within the federal state of Austria, with the exception of the war yers in the Great German Empire from 1938 until 1945.
