24 | At 0615 hrs Tk Bde Wksps R.E.M.E. received a direct hit from pilotless plane which was shot down by one of our fighters. The plane fall on the Nissen huts in which the men were sleeping and all the huts were completely destroyed. Considerable damage was done to property and stores and a certain number of vehicles were superficially damaged. There were fifty one (51) fatal casualties and 9 O.Rs. and 1 Officer were admitted to hospital some in a serious condition. The following is a list of the trades of personnel who were killed. |
