17 | 2015 | Div notified this HQ of a civilian report that CAULILLE 449905 was to be raided by the Boche during the hours of darkness and directed that a coy of 2 Lincolns proceed to the village with the intention of wiping out any such effort. They were to take a No. 22 set with them for comn with Bn Comd and would stay out until 0800 hrs tomorrow. 2 Lincolns were instructed to this effect and one pl moved off almost immediately to their task followed shortly afterwards by remainder of Coy. The first news of this detached Coy was received at 2330 hrs when a report was flashed through stating they had contacted Sqn of 3 Recce Regt in the village and no enemy had been contacted. |
